Low Tide is a conceptual album packaging project that combines music, storytelling, and visual design through a vinyl record, outer sleeve, and lyric booklet, creating a cohesive physical experience for the album.
Role:
Solo Graphic Designer
Context:
This project explores album packaging as a form of visual storytelling, where design extends the emotional tone of music beyond sound. The goal was to create a complete physical package that reflects the mood, themes, and narrative of an album, while considering how typography, imagery, and layout work together across multiple formats. In addition to the visual design, this project includes original songwriting, allowing the music and visuals to be developed as one unified concept rather than separate elements.
Design:
The design of Low Tide focuses on atmosphere, emotion, and restraint. The outer packaging sets the tone with a moody, minimal approach that mirrors the album’s themes of isolation, reflection, and quiet intensity. The record sleeve and vinyl design continue this feeling through subtle imagery and typography choices that feel intimate and understated.
The album booklet was designed as an extension of the music itself, containing lyrics for each song written specifically for this project. Layouts prioritize pacing and negative space, allowing the words to breathe and encouraging listeners to slow down and engage with the album on a deeper level. Together, the packaging elements create a cohesive experience that feels personal, reflective, and immersive, capturing the emotional weight of Low Tide both visually and lyrically.
