Hi, I'm Alexa! Artist Bio
I’m Alexa Honegger, a graphic design student at East Carolina University, currently in my junior year and working towards my BFA with a concentration in graphic design. Art has always been a fundamental part of my life, and it’s through design that I’ve found a way to turn my passion into a career. As I continue my studies, I’m continually excited by how design can blend creativity, communication, and problem-solving to make an impact.
I love taking on projects that challenge me to think outside the box and push my creative boundaries. Whether it’s through typography, branding, or illustration, I’m always eager to explore new techniques and ideas that will help me grow as a designer. I’m also deeply passionate about collaboration, working with peers and other artists to bring fresh perspectives and ideas into the design process.
My goal is to one day be an active part of the design industry, contributing meaningful work that resonates with people and has a lasting impact. I’m excited about the future and the endless possibilities in design, and I look forward to continuing to push myself creatively as I work towards becoming a professional designer.
Artist Statement
I’m Alexa Honegger, a graphic designer based in North Carolina with roots in California and New Jersey. I’m a senior at East Carolina University studying Graphic Design while also taking on freelance branding and merch design work. I came into design through drawing and storytelling. I have always been interested in how design can hold emotion and create a feeling without needing a full explanation.
I lean toward branding and packaging, and I’m drawn to making work that explores identity, emotion, and honesty. My process starts with sketching because it keeps my ideas direct and natural before I fine-tune them digitally in Illustrator and Photoshop. Visually, my style blends earthy and organic textures with a contemporary edge. I gravitate toward neutral and grounded colors, paired with bold lines and strong contrast, to create a balance between calm and intensity.
I’m inspired by nature, music, culture and designers who break rules with intention like David Carson. I want my work to feel honest and alive, something that stays with people. Whether it’s branding, packaging or a campaign, my goal is to create designs that feel emotional, purposeful and connected beyond the surface.
