A poster design envisioning the future of graphic design, enhanced with an AR scene that brings the visuals off the page into an immersive experience.
Role:
Sole Designer
Goal
My goal for this project was to execute a concept that envisions the future of design, with a focus on the growing presence of AI in the creative process. I wanted to explore the tension and curiosity around being able to distinguish between human-made and AI-generated work, and how this evolving relationship will shape the way we perceive authenticity and creativity in design.
Artist Statement
Shattered Realities
In this current digital age, the role of designers is constantly changing and evolving as new digital tools are emerging, with one of the most prominent now being artificial intelligence. Some designers choose to embrace AI for its innovation potential, while others currently fear that AI could take over the human element in design, which leads to the uncertainty of an AI-dominated future. The tension between both sides, being excitement and anxiety, leads to the basis of my poster design, which goes into the growing paranoia surrounding the ability to be able to tell what is truly real in a world that is increasingly influenced by Artificial Intelligence.
The composition of the poster is a reflection of this conflict, with a shattered screen effect that symbolizes the fragmented reality of the digital era that we are in. The phrase “Can we trust…” leads into “What is Real?” which has both a literal and metaphorical meaning into being able to differentiate what is human-made and what AI-generated. The shattered screen becomes a visual feeling of paranoia and spiraling with uncertainty that AI brings to the table, where the lines of what is authentic and synthetic become blurred.
To further this concept for my poster design, I furthered the idea with my Augmented Reality scene, allowing my poster to evolve and enhance the shattered effect in a way that it jumps out at you. The AR experience further fractures the screen, adding pieces exploding outwards in different orientations to create an interactive environment that reflects the disorienting and potentially a dystopian world with AI influence creeping into every corner of the creative landscape. As the audience interacts with the poster design, the shattered effect becomes more pronounced, inviting the audience to experience the paranoia and to ask the question, “Can we trust… What is Real?”
This poster design aims to provoke a deep reflection on the future of design, where AI may enhance and innovate design or confuse our ability to tell what is genuine and what is generated. I hope to spark a conversation about our evolving relationship with human creativity and technological advancement, and what that will mean for the future of design.
